Covai Post Network

The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation today launched a special Whatsapp number to address the grievances of public residing within the Corporation limits.

According to a senior official from the Corporation, public can send their grievances as texts to the number 8190000200 and the Corporation response team would immediately address the grievance.

“The grievance would be forwarded to the concerned department officials, who would take necessary action. The details of the work progress would also be intimated to the person who has filed the grievance,” the official added.

However, the official stated that public should only send grievances via text as phone calls would not be accepted.
Another helpline 8190000300 was launched to ensure the safety of school going children. The students can call the number and complain about harassments in schools and while travelling.

“There has been complains in the past that students were attempting suicide because of harassment and hence the number has been launched to make sure that the children’s grievances are addressed soon,” the official added.
He further claimed that the number has been launched especially for students from Corporation schools, however added that other school going kids within corporation limit can also use the helpline.

Both the numbers were launched at the Corporation office by Minister for Municipal Administration and Rural Development, S.P. Velumani in the presence of Corporation Commissioner K. Vijayakarthikeyan.

The city police launched a similar helpline number in the same series but ending with 100. The number is 8190000100.
