Ortho One – Orthopaedic Speciality Centre, Coimbatore’s first exclusive sports medicine clinic launched in 2008 has transformed into a specialty hospital to treat sports-related injuries, thanks to the initiatives of its arthroscopic surgeon, Dr. David V. Rajan, who was instrumental in launching the clinic along with Dr. Vinod and Dr. Clement Joseph.

Dr. David Rajan, who also heads Ortho One’s faculty team, was one of the earliest surgeons to specialize in athroscopy in India. The clinic has also published a handbook, titled ‘Prevention of sports injuries.’

A graduate of Vellore Christian Medical College, Dr. David obtained his degree in Orthopaedics from the Madras Medical College. He was also the President of Indian Arthroscopy Society, Shoulder Society of India and the Tamil Nadu Orthopaedic Association. In addition to various other honorary teaching positions and titles, Dr. Rajan runs a Fellowship Training Program in Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine under the auspices of Dr. MGR Medical University and ISAKOS (International Society of Arthroscopy Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine).

The doctor says that most of his patients are sportspersons from Kerala. The clinic has also treated many national- and state-level football, hockey, basketball and Kabbadi players.
