Over 3,000 athletes to participate in National Junior Athletic meet

Over 3,000 athletes—boys and girls—from across the country will take part in the 32nd National Junior Athletic championship, beginning here from November 10.
The championship will be a selection trial to pick the Indian team for the Junior Asian Athletic Championship, Tamil Nadu Athletic Association president WI Devaram told reporters here today. More than 200 athletes will represent Tamil Nadu in the five-day championship, he said.
There will be over 60 events each for ‘under 20 years junior’, ‘under 18 junior (youth)’, ‘under 16 years-sub-junior’ and ‘under 14 years’.
Besides, there will be decathlon for junior men, octathlon for boys under 18, pentathlon for boys under 16 and triathlon for boys under 14 years, while heptathalon, pentathlon and triathlon will be held for girls under 18, 16 and 14 years respectively, Devaram said.
