The city police has forwarded the complaint regarding denial of public right to use a road to the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation. This, according to authorities was because there were no documents by members of the residents welfare society to prove their right of usage of a scheme road passing through the Parsn Sesh Nestle gated community near Nanjundapuram in the city.

The traffic wing of the City Police which has been investigating the issue has also submitted a report to the CCMC officials.

The issue came to light when one of the residents filed a petition with the Chief Minister’s cell regarding the illegal usage of the scheme road that runs inside the campus. The petitioner, S. Kanagasundaram, Convener of the Licensed Building Surveyor’s Association, had also alleged that access to the road was blocked for general public.

“In no place is there a mention that the road belongs to the management nor do resident welfare societies have any documents. Yet, they are guarding the gate with a security, which again is a violation of the law,” he claimed.

After the case was forwarded to the City Police by the Chief Minister’s cell, an investigation team began an enquiry.

According to sources, police learnt that the members of the society were paying the security deployed at the gate. Hence, they demanded documents which were not furnished by the society members. It was in this backdrop that the matter was forwarded to CCMC.

When contacted, a senior official from the Town Planning Authority said they would look into the report filed by the police and then start proceedings.
