Petition against Pollachi DSP for insulting students

Members of the Students Federation of India on Wednesday have submitted a petition to the Director General of Police Ashok Kumar seeking action against the Deputy Superintendent of Police of Pollachi for allegedly insulting students.

In a petition stated to the DGP, Deepak Chandrakanth, the District Secretary of the Federation has alleged that while protesting against the management of the Nallamuthu Gounder Mahalingam College, the protesting students were roughly handled by the Pollachi police in the presence of DSP Charles on Tuesday.

He had also alleged that the DSP himself had manhandled a girl student while she was giving an interview for a news channels and abused her verbally.

“Other girl students were also abused verbally by lady police while arresting them and we have video evidence,” he claimed.

He further alleged that though more than 200 girl students participated in the protest, only a few lady police were deployed in the area.

Copies of the petition were also submitted to Superintendent of Police R.V. Ramya Bharathi and Deputy Inspector of General of Coimbatore.
