Picketing in the district, over 300 hundred arrested over Cauvery

Coimbatore : Over 300 DMK Activists, including MLA, N Karthik were arrested for attempting to stage picketing in various parts of the district, protesting against the arrest of party working president M K Stalin and also seeking to constitute the Cauvery Management Board.

About 100 workers, led by Singanallur MLA and party Urban South District convenor, Karthik squatted on the middle of the road at Peelamedu in the city and raised slogans seeking the release of Stalin, police said.

Similarly, nearly 70 DMK workers under the leadership of District youth wing organiser, Ashraf Ali and former MLA, Arunkumar attempted to stage a picketing seeking to form the Board immediately, at Mettupalayam.

All of them were arrested.

Some 100 party activists were arrested in Pollachi, as they staged picketing over the issue, police said.
