Coimbatore : The hearing of petition filed by Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) seeking five days custody of suspended Vice-Chancellor of Bharathiar University, Ganapathy was posted for February 12.
Ganapathy was arrested for demanding and accepting Rs 30 lakh as bribe from an assistant professor aspirant on February 3 and was now lodged in the Central Jail here along with professor Dharmaraj who brokered the deal.
As the Special Court of Prevention of Corruption Act denied bail to Ganapathy,DVAC sought custody of five days yesterday to interrogate the accused.
Since Special Court Judge John Mino was on leave, the accused were produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate, Madurasekharan, who posted the hearing to February 12.
While being taken back to jail, Ganapathy told reporters to write as per their conscience and not ‘sensitise’ the issue. “You are writing false. You have also children. I will come out clean from this conspiracy,” he said.
