Plea to implement Uniform Civil Code

The Hindu Makkal Katchi has urged the Centre to implement the Uniform Civil Code at the earliest.
In their petition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, through the district administration, the members said the law would help in the equal treatment of people of all religions.
“In a democratic country like India, it would not be good if people follow different rules for different religions and communities. The law is to help in the progress of the nation,” a petition said.
They submitted the petition to the District Collector, T.N. Hariharan.
