Coimbatore : Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi (KMDK) Saturday joined issue with PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss for opposing the proposed airport at Sriperumbadur .for the benefit of Chennai 10 years ago.

In a statement,KMDK general secretary, E R Eswaran said that the Centre has approved an airport in Sriperumbadur and the State government has started the process of acquiring 5,000 acres of land 10 years ago.

However, Ramadoss had opposed the project and the people of Tamil Nadu were aware of this, he said.

Stating that the demand by Ramadoss for expediting the works for airport yesterday was surprising, Eawsaran said at least Ramdoss could have explained to the people why he had opposed the project a decade ago.

If the project was completed as planned a decade ago the area would have witnessed large scale development in air traffic and business, benefiting hundreds of Tamils, Eswaran said.
