Police detain 350 motorists on Dec 31

City police detained 350 motorists at 22 check points on December 31 night for not wearing helmets. However, none of them were fined and no case was registered.

According to sources, patrolling was intensified on New Year’s eve. Police personnel conducted awareness drives for motorists on ill effects of drunken driving and importance of wearing helmets. City Police Commissioner K Periaiah visited the DB Road check point at 12.30 a.m. took part in the New Year celebrations. He cut a cake and distributed it to those who were detained there.
