The Tamil Nadu government has announced that it would provide ‘rice’ ration card holders with Rs 2,500 in cash and other goodies on account of the upcoming harvest festival, Pongal. Following this, tokens are being distributed to about 10 lakh ration card holders in Coimbatore district. The work for the same had already begun and this would go on till December 31.
It is estimated that over 10 lakh people who hold rice ration cards would be the beneficiaries of this Pongal gift of the Tamil Nadu government in Coimbatore.
