Coimbatore : A section of the prisoners in the Central jail Saturday indulged in protest, seeking to shift three accused in the sensational Pollachi sexual harassment to the cell, where POCSO prisoners are lodged.

The accused, Sathish, Sabarirajan and Vasanthkumar, who are detained under Goondas Act are lodged in a cell along with others, while key accused Thirunavukkarasu is in police custody.

Opposing this, a group of prisoners raised slogans and wanted the jail authorities to shift the trio to the cell, where POCSO prisoners were lodged, police said.

However, they withdrew their agitation following intervention of senior jail and police officials.

Meanwhile. a few DMK lawyers submitted a petition to the Superintendent of Police demanding action against AIADMK for unnecessarily dragging the name of the son of DMK Rural South secretary, Thenral Selvaraj in the case.

Many videos and audios were being circulated in the social media about the incident, including visuals linking Selvaraj’s son Manimaran with Thirunavukkarasu, they said.

This was done intentionally to defame DMK by AIADMK IT wing, to divert the attention from the real culprits, they alleged and sought legal action against those involved in it.
