A group of Anganawadi and midday meal workers today performed a ‘mourning dance’ as part of the indefinite strike by the State government employees demanding implementation of 20 point charter of demands. The strike entered the fourth day today.

While these workers singing a mourning song danced in a circle, a few male Government employees wore black shirts, joined the protest. They were protesting against the Government’s negligence towards the employees who were seeking to revert to old pension scheme and also fill the vacancies, police said.

Nearly 1,000 government employees and 250 Anganwadi workers squatted in front of the District Collectorate raising slogans in support of their demands.

However, they were arrested, police said.
