PSG College of Arts and Science Hosted ICSSR-Sponsored National Seminar on Sustainable Development Goals in Indian Literature and Cinema

The Department of English at PSG College of Arts & Science organized a one-day national seminar titled “Narratives of Change – Espousing SDGs through Indian Literature and Cinema for Societal Metamorphosis”, sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). The seminar aimed to explore the pivotal role of Indian literature and cinema in promoting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and fostering societal transfor-mation.

The seminar, held in the Library Conference Hall (Podhigai Hall), commenced with a traditional prayer song and a ceremonial lamp-lighting ceremony. Dr. P. Brinda, the Convenor of the Seminar, delivered the welcome address, setting the stage for an insightful day of discussions. Dr. B. Pavithra, the Organising Secretary, provided an overview of the seminar, highlighting its focus on the interplay between cultural narratives and sustainable development.
Dr. M. Senguttuvan, Principal (i/c), delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing pressing global challenges. The seminar featured four thought-provoking sessions, engaging academicians, researchers, and creative professionals in robust discussions on literature and cinema as catalysts for societal change.

The event concluded with a paper presentation segment, followed by the valedictory session. Dr. B. Pavithra presented the seminar report, and certificates were distributed by Dr. M. Senguttuvan. A vote of thanks marked the closure of the seminar, which concluded with the National Anthem, leav-ing participants inspired to contribute to sustainable development through creative and academic endeavors.
