“Rajiv Jyothi”, the lamp that was being taken to Sriperumpudur, near Chennai for observing 25th year of martyrdom of former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi, was received here at Coimbatore.
The Jyothi, brought by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee General Secretary and union leader, was received at INTUC Campus, Madukkarai on the outskirts, N Nanjappan, Senior Vice President, Tamil Nadu INTUC, said.
It will reach Sriperumpudur on May 21, the day Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by suicide bombing, he said.
The Jyothi will pass through Kerala, covering Palakkad, Thrissur, Thiruvananthapuram, enteringTamil Nadu in Kanyakumari, Madurai, Puducherry and Chennai, before reaching the Rajiov Gandhi Memorial at Sriperumpudur, he said.
TNCC president, E V K S Elangovan will receive the Jyothi at Chennai, Nanjappan said.
