People from several villages today staged protests in front of district collectorate in protest against opening of TASMAC outlets in their places.

Kallappalayam residents of Sulthanpet, Sulur Taluk, led by their Panchayat President V. Sundararaj and AIADMK members R. Balakrishnan, V. Gopi and K.R. Ranganathan, submitted a petition against opening of an outlet in the area.

“Officials came and checked area to open an outlet. However, they are yet to open it. We thought it would be better to protest before they open it,” said Sundararaj.
