Revised scheme of education for CA course from July 1

The revised scheme of education and training for Charted Accountancy course, formulated by Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) in lines with International Education Standards, will be introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 1 along with GST.

The new curriculum will be in the standards issued by International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), after considering the inputs from various stakeholders, ICAI Central Council member Supriya Kumar told reporters here today.

The technical competence, professional skills and professional values, ethics and attitudes expected from a CA are being redefined and upgraded in the scheme in order to gear up aspiring CAs to take on new roles, she said.

July 1 being the 68th Foundation day of ICAI and also GST coming into effect, the Revised Scheme of education and Training for CA course will come also commence on that day, Supriya said.

As suggested by the Centre, help desks are functioning in all the ICAI offices to popularise and create awareness among the public about the GST, ICAI past president, G Ramasamy, who was also present, said.
