In view of the outbreak of birdflu in neighbouring Karnataka, the district administration, as a preventive measure, has erected 12 check posts at the entry points to monitor vehicles bringing chicks and eggs from that State.
The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting, under the chair of district collector, Archana Patnaik, in which officials from animal husbandry, health and transport, poultry farm owners and persons belonging to related
business, official sources said.
Round the clock vigil will be kept on vehicles carrying chicks and eggs and other related produces from Karnataka and will be allowed only after spraying chemicals to prevent the spread of the disease, they said.
