Salem-Trichy special train: 3-month trial run from February 5

The Southern Railways has introduced a special train between Salem and Trichy considering public demand. A trial run will be conducted for three months from February 5 (Monday).

The Southern Railways has already extended the current Trichy-Karur passenger trains – both onward and return – to Salem via Namakkal.

According to a press release, the special trains (train numbers 06833/06834) will run on all days, except Sundays. They will be operated on a trial basis for three months, starting from February 5. The train will leave Trichy at 9.35 a.m and reach Salem at 1.20 p.m. It will leave Salem at 1.30 p.m. and reach Trichy at 5.35.p.m.

The Southern Railways has also announced change in timings in Salem-Vriddhachalam section due to construction of sub way at level crossings.

The Salem-Vriddhachalam Passenger (76848) will be operated only till Chinnasalem between February 5 and February 23, and the Salem-Chennai Express (11064) will be delayed for 50 minutes en route during the same period. The Chennai Railway (PRS) Passenger Reservation System will be suspended for 1 hour and 40 minutes for maintenance from 2.05 p.m. to 3.45 p.m. on Sunday and for 2 hours and 15 minutes (from 11.30 p.m. on February 4 to 1.45 a.m. on February 5), the release added.
