SDPI workers arrested

About 500 activists belonging to Socialist Democratic Party of India (SDPI) were arrested today, while attempting to lock TASMAC liquor outlets at various places in the district.

The SDPI workers gathered in front of liquor outlets in Sundarapuram, Ukkadam and Selvapuram in the city and attempted to down the shutters and lock the shops. However,police foiled their attempts and arrested them.

Similar attempts were made in Mettupalayam and Thudiyalur on the outskirts and workers were arrested, police said.
