Selling yummy gulab jamuns for a cause

The Rotaract Club of Millennium prepared and sold about 250 pieces of gulab jamoon today. The proceeds from the sales were donated to an NGO that supports and rehabilitates cancer patients.

Rotaract Club of Millennium Coimbatore, established about a decade ago, is sponsored by Rotary Club of Millennium, Coimbatore. The club has about 25 members, most of whom are college students. When they find time, members of the club involve themselves in social service activities of various kinds.

The gulab jamun venture was their most recent activity. “We made about 250 pieces of gulab jamuns at our homes yesterday. We sold about 200 pieces this morning at Happy Streets, and a city-based NGO bought the remaining 50 pieces from us,” President Rct Anil Subahar said. The dessert was priced at Rs.15 per pair, served in a disposable container with a spoon.

The club raised Rs.1090 from the sales, which will be donated to Arho NGO, which is involved in supporting cancer patients.
