Samooga Neethi Katchi (Social Justice Party) on Friday urged the State Election Commission to reserve wards in the City Corporation to Dalits and other minority community during the on going delimitation process.

The party President, Paneerselvam, told reporters that there were reports of irregularities in delimitation process, particularly depriving the chances of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste and minority community, by dividing them from their dominant wards. “In view of this, the commission should immediately take steps to prevent such irregularities and pave way for reservation to these communities to contest by creating separate wards for the local body elections,” he said.

Earlier, a few party workers staged a demonstration condemning the violent incident in Pune and wanted to bring to book those who were behind the killing of a Dalit youth.
