She is jack of all trades, but master in one. She is M V Priya, a resident of Ganapathy near here, who quit her marketing job to start her own venture on creative gardening. And she aptly named it as ‘Pots & more’ to offer different varieties of plants in pots.
Opening up her heart to Covai Post, Priya said,”I did my UG in apparel and fashion technology and later completed my PG in business administration. All was fine for me when I got a placement at ‘FACE’, a company involved in honing skills in sales and marketing.”
‘My stint at FACE as sales professional was really a fascinating experience since I learnt the tricks of the trade in selling a product. It gave me an opportunity to interact with different kinds of people,” she said adding that marketing segment is undoubtedly a challenging career which needs patience and perseverance.
Priya went on to say that she had a different experience each day. “I had seen the both sides of the coin reaching the heights of excitment and to the depth of discouragement. I used to take postive things while brushing aside all negative comments or views. I start my work with a whiff of fresh air the next day with the same enthusiasm”, she noted.
After getting groomed at FACE, she said that she decided to turn an entrepreneur. But, she was clueless as to what to do as she had no knowledge of taking up a particular field. In a state of dejection, she thought that she can never become an entrepreneur. Like a silver lining the darker clouds, one of her friends gave an idea of venturing into creative gardening.
“Initially, I had no idea about plants. But I loved nature and had a passion for it. I started to learn about plants and its features. My efforts bore fruits when I finally launched my ‘Pots & more’ in November 2013, Priya said and added that she got some customers through word of mouth.
About her innovative concept, she said,”Pots & more basically offers different varieties of plants arranged in a pot which can be used both indoors and outdoors besides giving away as gifts for birthdays, take away presents. This idea mainly triggered when I believed that gifts should be a part of the family which should grow with them. Moreover, it would add charm to the home by bringing in positive vibrations and clean air. Our future plan is to do in balconies with themed pots which will add freshness to homes where people can have a relaxed mornings and evenings amidst natural environs”.
