Smart card ‘identity’ crisis continues, youth ‘turns’ old woman

Covai Post Network

Faux pas continues with regard to smart family cards with the latest of a 29-year-old youth turning to be a 70-year-old woman at Vazhapadi near Salem.

It was very recently that a woman in Omalur in Salem had her card with the photograph of film actor Kajal, a farmer got the card with the photo of Lord Ganesh, a woman ‘turned into a dog’ and another man become the National Flag near Palani.

In the latest case, Vinod Kumar, 29, of Anupoor Melkadu near Vazhaadi, was shocked to receive his card with the photograph of an old woman.

The address, date of birth and other details were accurate, police said.

With more than 70 per cent Smart Cards already issued in Salem district, there bound to be some mistakes in the card, officials said, adding that heads of families can approach e-service centres to rectify the anomalies.
