Somanur tragedy: Plea to take action against officials

The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) has urged the district administration to take action against officials responsible for Somanur Bus Stand accident.
In a petition submitted to the Collector, T.N. Hariharan, on Monday, DMDK members called for action against the local panchayat officials and engineers. The petitioners requested the administration to provide Government job to the kin of the dead and reimburse the medical bills for the injured persons.
“The Collector had ordered periodical inspection of Government buildings in the district. But the orders are not being followed,” former legislator and party member P.K. Dhinakaran alleged.
The petitioners also requested the administration not to open new TASMAC outlets in the region.
