Special trains to promote tourism in Nilgiris

Coimbatore : Out to develop tourism in Nilgiris Mountain Raiway Section, Salem division of Southern Railway proposes to operate round trip special Udagamandalam-Ketti-Udagamandalam and Mettupalaiyam-Coonoor and back trains.

Mettupalayam-Coonoor-Mettupalayam premium special will be operated on Saturdays starting from December 8 from Mettupalayam at 9.10 am with halt at Kallar, and Hillgrove to reach Coonoor at 12.30 pm Coonoor-Mettupalayam premium special will be operated on Sundays from December 9, starting from Coonoor at 1.30 pm and with halt at Hillgrove and Kallar to reach Mettupalayam at 4.20 pm Seating Capacity: 132 seats (first class 16, second sitting 36 and second sitting-cum-brake van), a statement said on Tuesday

The second class tariff is Rs 800 and Rs 1,100 for first class and charges include value-added pack worth of Rs 200. Udagamandalam-Ketti-Udagamandalam premium special will be operated on Sundays from December 9.

It will start from Udagamandalam at 2.30 pm and areach Ketti at 3 pm. It will at 3.30 pm to reach Udagamandalam at 4 pm. This special has combo of first class (16 seats) second class 36) and second sitting-cum-brake van (30).

The tariff is Rs 300 for second class and Rs 400 for first class, inclusive of value-added pack worth of Rs 100.
