State-Level Thirukkural Competitions for Students Announced Across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry

Shriram Ilakkiya Kazhagam, the literary wing of the Shriram Group, has announced its annual State-level Thirukkural Elocution, Drawing and Essay Competitions for school and college students across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
The competitions will be conducted from July 18 to August 30, 2026, across 12 centres, providing a platform for young participants to showcase their knowledge, creativity and understanding of the timeless teachings of Thirukkural.
The Coimbatore zonal competition is scheduled to be held on August 2 at Suburban Higher Secondary School, Ram Nagar. Other competitions will take place in Salem (July 18), Vellore (July 19), Thiruvarur (July 25), Puducherry (July 26), Erode (August 1), Thanjavur (August 8), Tiruchirappalli (August 9), Madurai (August 22), Tirunelveli (August 23), Chennai (August 29) and Tambaram (August 30).
Participants will compete in three categories: Junior (Classes 6 to 8), Senior (Classes 9 to 12), and College (UG, PG, Engineering, Medical and Polytechnic students).
Students interested in participating can obtain application forms from their nearest Shriram Chits branch or download them from the official website www.shriramchits.com. Shriram Ilakkiya Kazhagam has been organizing these competitions annually since 1988 with the objective of promoting awareness and appreciation of Thirukkural among the student community.
Over the decades, the initiative has encouraged thousands of young learners to engage with the literary and moral values enshrined in the classical Tamil text.The organisers said the competitions continue to serve as an important cultural and educational platform, inspiring students to explore the relevance of Thirukkural’s teachings in contemporary life while fostering public speaking, writing and artistic skills.
