The Tirupur Exporters’ Association (TEA) held a meeting with all stakeholders associations to chalk out strategies to achieve the vision of Rs 1 lakh crore business in Tirupur by 2020.
The strategies include setting up a knitwear board, research lab and design studio in the district to start ventures into new products, synthetic garments and creation of own designs that will help to escalate the business, TEA president Raja M Shanmugham, told the meeting.
In order to address the housing needs of workers, one lakh houses will be constructed with the help of the Central government and CCTV would be fixed in all 60 wards in Tirupur corporation to monitor and ensure safety, a TEA release quoting Shanmugham said.
He appealed for the co-operation of all associations to achieve the 2020 target.
