Student fatally run over by train while taking selfie, another hurt

Coimbatore: An 18-year-old boy lost his life and another of the same age was injured seriously when a goods train hit them while they were taking a selfie on mobile phone near Sulur on the outskirts today. According to police, Sujit of Udayampalayam and Satheeshkumar of Palladam,B.Com first-year students in a private college, were taking selfie near a railway track in Muthukavundampalayam.

As they noticed a goods train approaching, they rushed near the track and attempted to take selfie. However, they were thrown down by the speeding train and passersby immediately rushed them to a private hospital, police said.

In view of the seriousness of the injury, Sujith was shifted to the Government Hospital. However, without responding to treatment, he died after some time, they said. Satheeshkumar was undergoing treatment and further investigations were on.
