COIMBATORE May 26th : Corporate team-building events usually happen inside air-conditioned conference rooms. The SUEZ in Coimbatore team decided to do things differently this year. To mark the International Day for Biological Diversity, the staff left their desks and travelled to the Exotic Bird Park at Kooky land in Mettupalayam.

The goal of the trip was straightforward. Management wanted the team to disconnect from heavy daily routines and actually look at the environment. Urban development is expanding fast. The line between city concrete and natural habitats is blurring every single day. This visit was meant to show that biological diversity is a vital global asset sitting right in our own backyard, rather than just a dry textbook concept.

Instead of standard corporate trust games, the SUEZ staff spent their day completely outdoors. They took part in a guided bird-watching tour across the park. The team also spent time assisting local botanists on the ground.
By taking staff directly into nature, the company hopes to push other local businesses to take environmental stewardship seriously. The corporate sector and the natural world simply have to coexist.
Speaking at the visit, Mr. Sangram Pattanayak, Project Director, SUEZ – 24×7 Water Supply Project, Coimbatore, explained the core reason behind the initiative. “We spend all week managing city infrastructure. It is very easy to forget the natural world outside,” “We brought our team out here so they could physically see the local ecology they usually just read about. When you walk with botanists and watch these birds, you realize why protecting nature is an absolute necessity. We want to prove that business operations and environmental care must exist together.”
The field trip served as a powerful, ground-level reminder of how corporate teams can actively engage with local ecology.
