Green Thondamuthur initiative was established with the objectives of promoting tree-based agriculture, creating 33 percent green cover in the Thondamuthur area, enhancing the economic well-being of farmers, and rejuvenating the Noyyal River. Through this initiative, farmers will be provided with valuable timber saplings, including teak, mahogany, neem, rosewood, and sandalwood.
In the past five years, Cauvery Calling Movement has collaborated with the Thondamuthur Rotary Club, Coimbatore Architects and Contractors Association, Tamil Nadu Hotel Owners Association – Coimbatore, and the Bakery Owners Association, to provide high-value timber saplings to the farmers. Notably, more than 3 lakh trees have been planted in agricultural lands through this initiative over the last five years.
The launch ceremony was attended by coordinators of the Cauvery Calling, presidents and representatives of the Rotary Clubs, the secretary of the Noyyal River Foundation, and several others.
