With prohibition and the liquor policy of the AIADMK Government being the major target of the opposition, BJP State General Secretary Muralidhar Rao has said that Tasmac had become the brand name of Tamil Nadu and the Dravidian parties, here on Monday.

Participating in a campaign for gathering votes for candidates from Coimbatore and the Nilgiris at the VOC grounds, Muralidhar Rao also alleged that the State Government was run by the alcohol mafia.

“The city, which was once a haven for industrialists and entrepreneurs, has now become the worst place to start and run a business. It is all because of the State Government,” he alleged.

Pointing out that BJP-run States have been doing well in agriculture, the best being in the State of Madhya Pradesh, there has been 23 per cent rise in the recent years.

“However, the situation is different here and agriculture and production of ethanol is not given importance by the Tamil Nadu Government,” he claimed adding that Modi was the only leader who reached out to the people whenever there was a trouble.

Claiming that the Central Government had allotted a special package fund for the welfare of the tea growers in the Nilgiris, Muralidhar Rao also informed that around Rs. 200 crore had been allotted for Tamil Nadu.

He further added that Coimbatore was an important place for the BJP and that the party would sweep all the constituencies in the district as they had enough support.
