Even as all the TASMAC outlets in the State are officially closed from 14th to 16th May and on 19th May, most of the outlets are still running business much to delight of the tipplers. And they are reportedly making a killing by jacking-up the price of liquor.

The Election Commission had earlier announced that all the outlets would be closed ahead of elections. And as usual the outlets remained crowded on the penultimate day and according to reports, the sales increased by more than 20 per cent in all the outlets.

“This is a common sight to see Tasmac outlets work on dry days. It is imperative that the authorities take cognizance else it could create problems in sensitive areas,” claimed an onlooker, who runs a shop near an outlet in Gandhipuram. He further added that even the police turn a blind eye.

Reacting to this, a higher official from the Election Commission said that strict action would be taken against those violating the dry day order.
