Coimbatore: Former India cricketer Rajagopal Satish feels whoever wants to play cricket should play Tests because that is real cricket. Satish, who was in Coimbatore recently, and has played for Mumbai, Punjab and Kolkata in the IPL, had a free-wheeling chat with The Covai Post

Q. Your thoughts on the ball-tampering scandal that has hit the Australians?

A. Sorry, I can’t comment on that since I was away on rehab, following an injury. I don’t know exactly what transpired that day.

Q. DRS has been referred to as a controversial system by BCCI. Do you too feel the same?

A. Over the years, lots of rules have been changed and there is a committee along with experts for everything. Earlier, technology was not there but now we have it. If it’s working well we should respect it. ICC does not take decisions overnight; they are trying it out to see if it works. Can’t question ICC decisions at the end of the day.

Q. What could be the reason behind Murali Vijay being considered only for Tests and not for ODIs?

A. Vijay is the best when it comes to Test cricket and if you ask any player they would say I want to play Test cricket. I don’t think he has been ignored because there are players who have played better than him.

Q. CSK coming back after two years, are you emotional?

A. Definitely people from Tamil Nadu will be happy to see CSK back because it has been a wonderful team right from Season 1 of the IPL.
