As many as 40 children from orphanages in various districts were trained in drama by Vidiyal Trust in Coimbatore.
Kids from Mariyala and Don Bosco orphanages from Coimbatore, Salem, Tirupur, and Erode participated in the two-day camp that was held at the Mariyala home in Vellakinaru, on Friday and Saturday.
M. Prabhakaran, the director of the trust, said that the workshop was conducted to take drama to all the corners of the society. “We fell that the students would take the art everywhere as they go out after education,” he said.
He added that drama is one of the important art forms that inculcate societal and cultural thoughts in individuals. “A human being can be complete only if he involves in arts and enjoys it. It is important that he takes art with him and passes it on to others,” Prabhakaran said. He revealed that the trust had trained as many as 200 kids in three years.
