Three persons were injured in an attack by workers of Tamil Nadu Kongu Ilaingar Peravai, an ally of ruling AIADMK, on some medical representatives, over parking of vehicles in Ramnagar in the city, today.

According to the police, trouble broke out when some Peravai cadres noticed a few two-wheelers parked on the roadside, blocking the way to the office of their leader and MLA, U. Thaniyarasu and reportedly shifted them, causing damage.

Even as an argument ensued between the representatives, who owned the vehicles, and the workers, some persons came in a car with lethal weapons like sickle and sticks and started attacking, including some public, they said.

In the attack, three representatives were injured and hospitalised, while 12 persons belonging to Peravai were taken into custody for interrogation and senior police officials and Peravai leaders are discussing to defuse the tension, they said.

The City Police Commissioner, A.K. Vishwanathan and Deputy Commissioner, Ramya Bharathi visited the spot and adequate police force was deployed to prevent any further clash, police added.
