The Tamil Nadu Government on Monday appointed retired Judge of the Madras High Court Justice Arumugaswamy to probe the mystery behind the death of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.

A government order to this effect has been issued to set up an inquiry commission headed by retired judge of the Madras High Court Justice Arumugaswamy to probe Jayalalithaa’s death and submit a report,” a statement from the Information Department said.

Bowing to the demand made by rebel faction led by O. Panneerselvam (OPS) for the merger, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami recently announced that Government would set up an inquiry panel headed by a retired judge to probe into the circumstances leading to the former Chief Minister’s death.

Soon after the announcement, the two factions – one headed by Palaniswami and another by Panneerselvam merged.
