TN Industries secretary invites Taiwan to invest in Tamil Nadu

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) – Tamil Nadu along with Tiruppur Exporters’ Association (TEA) organized ‘Tamil Nadu – Taiwan Technical Textile Partnership Summit 2025 with the support of Tamil Nadu Government, in Coimbatore City on Monday and will continue it on Tuesday in Tiruppur.
The Summit’s inaugural ceremony took place in Le Meridien Hotel, and it brought together industry leaders, technical experts, policymakers and suppliers particularly from Taiwan (who are global leaders in Man Made Fibers – MMF) to explore opportunities and drive innovation in MMF and technical textiles in Tamil Nadu.
The inaugural day featured several technical presentations by Taiwanese Experts on Technical Textile – Synthetic Fabric, Activewear, its processing techniques, Eco Dyeing Technology, Eco-Smart Coz Reduction Finishing machines and lot more topics. More than 300 persons belonging to Tamil Nadu’s Textile sector with interest in Technical Textile especially MMF attended.
The inaugural event saw G.R.Gopikumar, Convener, Textile Panel, CII – Tamil Nadu; Sunil Kumar JhunJhunWala, Vice Chairman, MMF Subcommittee, TEA; C.Devarajan, Vice Chairman, CII Tamil Nadu State Council; Ganesh, Senior VP, Jintex; Justin Huang, President, Taiwan Textile Federation; A.Sakthivel, Vice Chairman, APEC; Pavan Kumar IAS, Coimbatore District Collector; Mageswari IAS, Director-Handlooms, TN Govt and Arun Roy IAS , Secretary, Industries and Investment Promotion Department, TN Govt address the gathering.
Delivering the keynote address, Arun Roy IAS said that Taiwan and Tamil Nadu can collaborate in multiple ways in Technical Textiles. ” We invite you to invest in Tamil Nadu, to start your own manufacturing or it can be in the form of joint-ventures, it can be technology transfers, buyer-seller relationships market sharing arrangements and so on,” he said. Tamil Nadu Government will firmly back the arrangement, whatever be the nature of the business relationship that is being forged. He also recalled that both regions have had strong business relationships already in the field of electronics and footwear. The state is excited that a third-front in technical textiles is now moving forward.
Maheshwari IAS, Director – Handlooms, TN Govt congratulated CII and TEA for organizing such an impactful summit. The Director said the state government is in the process of issuing an order to offer capital subsidy for the processing sector, and it will introduce courses in technical textiles in polytechnics and industrial training institutes.
During the press conference held prior to the event by the organizers, it was conveyed by them that the State Government is studying the recommendations submitted in a report by Wazir Advisors – a consultancy firm that has in-depth knowledge about textiles sector – to promote sportswear and athleisure production in the State. It is a 120-page report that was made in 6 months after making extensive research. The firm has suggested policy and infrastructure-related changes in the report and the possible outcomes that could benefit the industry.
