The members of the Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kazhakam (TPDK) have announced that they will stage a black flag demonstration against Congress Vice-President, Rahul Gandhi during his visit to Trichy on March 19.

Rahul Gandhi is coming to Trichy on March 19 to participate in the two-day Social Justice Conference organised by the Dravida Kazhakam. TPDK General Secretary, K Ramakrishnan said that the protest is being held to condemn Congress, which had opposed the release of the seven convicted for assassinating Rajiv Gandhi, and for supporting the massacre of Tamilians in Sri Lanka.

He also blamed the Congress for the fall of the V.P. Singh government, which tried to implement reservations on the basis of Mandal Commission recommendations.

TPDK also demanded that the Centre must lay the GAIL gas pipeline on highways, like it did in Kerala and Karnataka, and leave the agricultural fields alone.
