TPDK seeks apology from Vijayendra Saraswati

COIMBATORE: About 40 members of Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kazhakam (TPDK) on Monday staged a demonstration in the city condemning Junior Sankarachartya of Kanchi Mutt, Vijayendra Saraswati for sitting through while ‘Tamil Thai Vazhthu’ was being played at a function in Chennai.Led by TPDK General secretary K. Ramakrishnan, they raised slogans against the seer for showing disrespect to the song.

The activists wanted the junior pontiff to tender an apology in front of the memorial of Manonmaniam Sundaranar, the author of the song in Tirunelveli, police said.

A video has gone viral in social media showingt Vijayendra sitting through the song, which later was clarified that he was in dhyana (meditation).
