Traffic disrupted as tree falls on railway track,road in Nilgiris

Ooty: Conoor-Udhagamandalam trains were cancelled today after a big tree fell on the railway track. Other vehicular traffic was alsoparalysed for more than 10 hours as the other end of the tree was lying across Manjoor road.

According to railway sources, the tree fell on the track near Lovedale, some 8 km from here around 2 am, leading to the cancellation of three trains till 2 pm from Coonoor.

Similarly, on Manjoor Road, vehicular traffic was disrupted, police said As fire and rescue and PWD officials managed to chop of the protruding branches, light vehicles like motorcycles and three-wheelers started moving.

Rail and road traffic was likely to resume around 6 pm.
