Transport Department seizes 13 vehicles

The Transport Department of the Coimbatore Zone seized as many as 13 vehicles during the festive season checking between November 6 and 11.

The Department conducted checks at various entry points in and around the Coimbatore Zone to curb omni buses and other vehicles over-charging passengers during the festive season.

In the checks, as many as 13 vehicles including two omni buses, two heavy goods vehicles and an unregistered autorickshaw were seized by the Department for various reasons.

The Department officials also collected as much as Rs. 6,68,200 as fine and Rs. 1,57,535 as tax. Nearly 2,837 vehicles were checked by the Department, out of which 378 were reported for holding false documents or other charges.
