A two-day ‘National Conference on Agricultural Scientific Tamil’ began in Coimbatore today at the Tamil Nadu Agriculture University (TNAU, with an aim to translate agriculture and allied sciences and technology into Tamil, for the benefit of the farmers.
The conference is being organised jointly by TNAU and Delhi-based Agricultural Scientific Tamil Society, with the theme, ‘Tamil Can Do: Agriculture-Veterinary-Fishery.’ About 350 delegates are attending the conference and 16 books, containing nearly 800 research-articles in Tamil, were released today.
A thematic session was held under the chairmanship of Perur Tamil College Principal, Maruthachala Adigalar, in which six eminent scientists and scholars spoke about the feasibility of Tamil for agricultural education and research.
TNAU Vice-Chancellor, K. Ramasamy inaugurated the conference, in the presence of Dr. S Thilagar, Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Chennai; Dr. G. Rathinakumar, Acting Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Fisheries University, Nagapattinam; and S. Nagoor Ali Jinnah, CGM, NABARD, Chennai.
