VGM Hospital Organises World Heart Day Awareness Rally in Coimbatore

The rally is being organized to spread awareness about heart diseases, promote preventive healthcare, and highlight the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle for a healthier heart and a better quality of life.

Heart attacks, strokes and other major cardiovascular events are rising alarmingly—and increasingly striking Indians in the prime of life.The silent killers are multiplying: diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure and abnormal cholesterol are fueling a cardiovascular time bomb.

In 2026, the first symptom of heart disease may be the last – sometimes a sudden heart attack or stroke. India must stop waiting for the first MACE and start preventing it decades before it happens.India’s cardiovascular alarm is intensifying: deaths attributed to circulatory diseases rose by 6.6% in just one year. More worryingly, cardiovascular disease is no longer confined to the elderly—with 15.3% of 30–44-year-olds reporting cardiovascular disease.

VGM Hospital organised a World Heart Day awareness rally in Coimbatore on Tuesday to highlight the rising burden of cardiovascular diseases and promote preventive healthcare and healthy lifestyle practices.

The rally commenced from the Racecourse–Cosmopolitan Club Corner at 7 a.m. and concluded at the Racecourse Media Tower. Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja, I.A.S., attended the programme as the Chief Guest.The rally was flagged off by Dr. V.G.Mohan Prasad, Founder-Chairman, VGM Hospital, who also delivered the welcome address.

The programme featured a heart-health awareness session, pledge-taking ceremony, awareness rally, a special address by Cardiologist Dr. D. Dharmarajan, and a life-saving CPR demonstration.

VGM Hospital emphasised the importance of preventing heart disease through regular health checks, a balanced diet, physical activity and timely medical intervention. The hospital urged the public to adopt healthier lifestyles, stressing the message: “Prevention is better than cure.”

The awareness rally was actively participated by Doctors of VGM Hospitals including Dr. Suman, Medical Director, Orthopedic surgeon, Dr.Madhura Prasad Suman, Director of Endoscopy & Gastroenterologist, Dr.Vamsi Murthy, Director of Endoscopy & Gastroenterologist, Dr. Mithra Prasad, Director of Transplant & Hepatologist, Dr.Dharmarajan, Cardiologist & other specialists of VGM Hospital, Nurses, Paramedical staff & students of various nursing & paramedical colleges including SNS College, Nehru college, JK college, Texcity college & Bishop Ambrose college, etc.

VGM Hospital invites the public, doctors, healthcare professionals, and social volunteers to participate in the awareness rally and support the initiative with the message:
