Water supply firm caught selling drinking water on commercial basis

The City Corporation officials have uncovered two domestic drinking water connections that are being used for supplying water commercially.
Based on a complaint by residents of an area in Nallampalayam that a water supply firm was involved in selling drinking water on a commercial basis in and around the area, Commissioner Vijayakarthikeyan ordered an enquiry into the issue.
A team of officials carried out an inquiry on the premises of Thiruvalar Priya Water Supply Co. and found that the house owner Shanmugham had taken two water connections for domestic purposes.
However, it was noticed that the drinking water was being pumped and sold outside.
Based on this, the officials seized the motors and also disconnected the two water connections, official sources said.
