“The DMDK is fighting the elections in Thanjavur , Aravakkurichi and Thirupparankundram constituencies without any alliance partners. We have reposed faith on public,” the party’s women’s wing president Premalatha Vijayakanth said.
Addressing a series of election meetings in Thanjavur constituency, seeking votes for her party candidate Abdullah Sait on Tuesday, Premalatha alleged that the DMK and the AIADMK candidates, who were earlier elected from Thanjavur constituency, failed to solve the problems faced by the people. She appealed to the voters to elect the DMDK candidate, “as an alternative to the DMK and the AIADMK”.
“The livelihood of the people in the area will be secured only if the Cauvery water issue is resolved. If elected, the DMDK candidate, will curb illegal sand mining here,” she added.
She campaigned at Punnainallur Mariammankoil, Anna Nagar and several other places.
