A middle-aged woman, reportedly under the influence of liquor, today inflicted injuries on her hand with a blade in full public view in the railway station.
The woman, identified as Kala of Ukkadam in the city, was creating nuisance near the Station, as a group of police was busy managing the area, where some workers of various political parties and trade unions planned a rail roko, in
view of the one-day strike, police said.
As the woman was asked to clear the place, she started arguing and in a fraction of a second cut her left hand with a blade she was carrying, to the surprise of the public.
Police took the profusely bleeding woman and admitted her to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, where she is being treated, they said.
