The Young Indians, Coimbatore Chapter, has designed a car bin that can hold approximately 200 gms waste.

Designed by S. Manoj Krishnakumar, Chairman, Swachh Bharat of Yi, the bin can be placed in cars easily.

“When we travelled from Gandhimanagar to Anaikatti, we collected 20 tonnes of waste from road side. The waste was mostly chocolate and chips wrappers, water bottles and papers. We realised that it was all thrown by those who were travelling by car,” Manoj said.

“We have decided to distribute the car bin to all car owners through various associations in the city and malls. So far we have distributed 500 bins,” he added.

The car bins can be handed over to the sanitary workers who send it to the dumping area. “We are trying to spread a word on the car bins through social media. If people start using this, we can help the authorities maintain the city neat and clean,” Manoj said.
