Four persons were injured when a 100-year-old building housing a tea shop, eateries and offices collapsed near the Collectorate here on Saturday.
According to police, rains – that have been lashing the district for the last three days – had made the building wet and it collapsed suddenly in the morning.
Four persons, who were caught under the debris, were rescued and taken to the Government Hospital for treatment.
District Collector Innocent Divya, who rushed to the spot, directed the municipal officials to inspect all old buildings in the district and take action to avoid any such untoward incident.More than 12 landslides have occurred in Kothagiri, Wellington and Kallar, disrupting traffic.
