Huge tree falls across track near Lovedale

A huge tree fell across the railway track near Lovedale on Monday leading to cancellation of trains between Coonoor and Udhagamandalam. According to sources, the tree fell on the track near Lovedale in the wee hours leading to cancellation of trains from Coonoor. Vehicular movement was disrupted on the Udhagamandalam-Kundha Road for several hours. Police and fire personnel rushed to the spot to clear the blockade. Finally a JCB was pressed into service to clear the tree. The Nilgiris Mountain Rail services has temporarily been suspended, sources added.
